While we like to fish for about anything, walleyes seem to be the fish of choice. For me personally any day fishing is a good day and it's even better if you have someone along with you to share the experiences. This is just a great sport to get the youngsters involved in and to plan family vacations around. While growing up, my grandfather used to say that he would rather seem my brother and I get high off the outdoors than getting involved with drugs and alcohol. This site is also geared toward giving our experiences and advice to the young and old. Like I always say...the only dumb question is the one not asked. So if you have a question about anything...how to do this or that, send us an email and we will do our best to give you the correct answers. Were not always right either, but do our best! Walleye I am averaging about one trip a week and as fall approaches, bigger fish are being caught. The biggest walleye so far for me is 24 1/2 inches long. On the St.Lawrence River...18 inches is a keeper and you can keep up to 3 fish per person. My motto...keep only what you intend to eat and release the rest to grow bigger. Our problem is we like eating fresh walleye! Bass
Quite a few are now out fishing for bullheads with the ice now gone from most areas, people are having good luck around Chippewa Bay and the stretch of water around Heuvelton. Walleye Pike season opens the first week of May ( May 6th) and we have already planned guys weekend out to spend the weekend in camp fishing walleye by day and bullheads by night. We have a camp located at the base of Whiteface Mountain on Union Falls. This has been in the family since the early 1900's and its a family tradition of getting together to not only enjoy the comradery but great fishing also. You can also fish this lake by renting a boat at Macintyre's Marina or using his boat launch for a small fee. There is a 10 hp motor restriction on this body of water. Black lake also holds some great walleye fishing thanks to the Black Lake Fish and Game Club and their stocking efforts. Its been awhile since I've had a chance to fish Lake Ontario, but that used to hold some nice size walleyes for the taking. Check out our fishing links to other sites of interest!
